Next Friday, rugby fervour reaches new heights as we prepare to face off against Northampton Saints in what promises to be an electrifying Pledgeball event.
This match isn’t just any ordinary fixture; it’s a Pledgeball event. A match between Bristol Bears and Northampton Saints, in partnership with Pledgeball, is a call to action for fans to join forces in protecting where we play. AND beating Saints off the pitch AND – by pledging through Pledgeball, fans have the chance to win a signed Bears shirt.
So, what exactly is Pledgeball, and how does it work?
Pledgeball gives fans a platform to take a stand on sustainability. It is a movement that highlights the power that fans can have when they come together with a purpose. This works through Pledgeball fixtures. In each Pledgeball fixture, fans pledge to reduce carbon emissions by choosing from a list of actions.
Getting involved is simple. Fans can make their pledges in the days leading up to the match.
Whether committing to using reusable water bottles, opting for public transportation, or
embracing meat-free meals, every pledge contributes towards a greener, more sustainable future.

The potential that Bears fans have to create and drive change is significant:
- One Ashton Gate’s worth of fans committing to not more than 1 return flight per 3 years equates to taking over 8704 cars off the road.
- One Ashton Gate’s worth of fans simply recycling everything they can equates to taking over 2979 cars off the road.
The impact we can have by making these choices not only reduces emissions but stretches beyond our own actions through the influence it has on friends, family, and beyond.
Katie Cross, CEO of Pledgeball, said, “As we gear up for the Pledgeball event, I couldn’t be more thrilled to see two of my favourite teams go head-to-head. Bristol Bears and Northampton Saints have been incredible partners in our sustainability journey. I’m eager to witness how they empower their fans to make a difference and unite in their pledges.”
